My experience in Datumize as Marketing & Inbound intern
My name is Zornitsa, and I am a 21-years old Bulgarian girl studying international business and management in The Netherlands. For me, the internship in Datumize was not simply a working experience, but my first job related to what I study and what I want to dedicate my future career on: Marketing.
And now, at the end of the internship, I can proudly say, without any hesitation, that my whole 5-months Datumize journey was extremely exciting, inspiring, and educational, full of new people, ideas, knowledge, events, challenges, and resolutions.
To keep this article simple, organized, and not overloaded with information, my Datumize experience has been divided into three categories: workflow (tasks, deliverables, etc.), team, and the company itself. Here is what I want to share of it:
About the workflow
I have always found Marketing to be the one business field that combines creativity and knowledge in one. In Datumize, this belief is 100% valid and put in practice:
- First, as an intern, I was trained in the marketing strategy and style the company uses, as well as in the platforms which are used for managing the day-to-day activities. This initial "introduction" was crucial for me to understand the goals of the department and the means of working. Or in other words, this was the knowledge that I needed.
- And after the theory, the one crucial skill that I needed was creativity. Because after all, the tasks which I was given were strongly dependent on it.
My tasks were related to text and visual content creation, together with being in charge of the company's blog and social media. What I liked most is that everything I did was different every day: new topics, keywords, content pieces, etc.
So my "Datumize experience" was a challengefull journey, which significantly enhanced my writing style, data, and tech knowledge, and last but not least: marketing skills to better approach target audiences and provide them with relevant content to draw awareness and engagement.
About the team
If I had to describe the work environment in Datumize with three words: international, motivating, friendly. Even though I was the youngest team member, and not on a long-term contract, the employees of Datumize treated me like even. For five months, I got to know almost everybody and feel free to communicate, ask for advice, or simply have a chat without any concerns, fears, or disguise.
The internationality of the team is a big PRO because of the multicultural environment that is formed in the office. This contributes to colorful and distinct opinions on different topics and stimulates everybody in the company to become more open to new points of view and ideas.
At the same time, I was able to see the great collaboration between the different departments, which align their efforts and micro-goals to contribute to Datumize's corporate objectives. Such cooperation, in my eyes, motivates effective leadership and stimulates everybody from the team to be continuously and equally motivated and hardworking.
About the company culture
In my opinion, one key strength of Datumize is that it takes advantage of every opportunity. Even in terms of interns like me.
Before starting work, I expected my job to include not only marketing tasks, but also other tasks which would be irrelevant to the essence of my internship. Besides, I thought I would not be able to give opinions or ideas about the work I do, but simply follow instructions.
It turned out I was wrong. Datumize treats interns as people who can contribute with a fresh viewpoint, innovative mindset, creative thinking, and new ideas. My marketing supervisor listened to my ideas, evaluated them, and gave me constructive feedback. This gave me the courage and motivation to give my best for every task and engaged me with Datumize's objectives and mission.
Conclusion
Overall, Datumize was an amazing experience for me. I learned, I grew, I met great people and had a pushing start of my career.
